One more batch of mohawk recruits just passed out...
Yesterday was quite interesting. I went back to the god forsaken island also known as tekong to collect the dockets for the new MPs coming in. At the ferry terminal, i met Mantis! and also our csm but oh well not significant. Anyway then as i was walking to bmtc HQ, i saw a bunch of people doing strength training on the hot parade square... i quickly decide to look away to avoid bringing back horrible memories. But then i realise the PTI was the mohawk one, then the people were so organised on the parade square, it had to be mohawk. Tried to squint my eyes to see the first aid thingy on the stretcher. And yes on the bottom of the red cross was a 'M'. I was right... then i realise there were some familiar 'figures', like barsha and kim walking around the poor recruit. Bad memories... bad memories... hehe

Headed to town after that. Saw a group of botak head people crowding outside plaza sing. At first i tot they were a bunch of perverts watching the netball game. Then among the crowd i saw a head sticking out. MANTIS AGAIN! Due to his inability to count, he said to me "Third time i saw you today!" Apparently, the bunch of guys were actually the previous batch who just passed out waiting for their company shirt which my batch didnt have one although we had a fashion designer among our OOTs...

Interesting day i had yesterday. Saw the old and new batch... I wonder how the new batch will fair. After all, all the spawns of evil(hehehe yes you commanders were evil! ADMIT IT!) like ariff, vicknesh, choo etc(too horrible to recall in case i get nightmares tonite) ORD liao... Wonder whether mohawk will lose its reputation. Not all is lost. Just make a pact with the devil like the girl in Silent Hill and give the recruits of Mohawk hell k? hehehe

leopard crawl

ok funniest thing i have heard all week. ITS TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS. Has to be sgt ariff...
Apparently this week after lights off someone was using his handphone. This person happened to be bed 7 which is at the end of the bunk if you remember. So he saw the door open slightly and quickly tried to hide but when he turn to the door, there was no one there. So he continued... and suddenly a face appeared in front of him. It was none other than sgt ariff. "You want me to wake the entire company up? Give me your handphone". This guy was dumbfounded. When ariff left, he was like why no one gave any warning? Then bed 1 guy went up to him and said "Actually i saw him come into the room. The thing was that he LEOPARD CRAWL to your bed and i couldnt say anything..."

Is anyone as speechless as me? Or you probably rolling on the floor laughing now... Seriously... and i always tot leopard crawl was useless and just a way to torture us... it actually has some use... amazing...

First weekend

So i think this week end is the first weekend the new batch of mohawk recruits get to leave the island for more than a day. hehe. Anyway from what i gather, everything is pretty much the same... except johnathan is gone which is no lost since he wasnt even around when we were around. Apparently the M3 commanders still stay the same with the double combo of sgt ariff and vighnesh. And they did the same to this batch by scaring the hell out of their platoon for the first 2 days. Think its their trade mark. Izzit true sgt ariff extended his ord date to see this batch through? GASP! poor maggots... hehe.
Yes Lt JJ is a nice guy now, even Lt Choo. I even heard that Sgt Soh told his platoon he is trying to make it easy for them. BUT thats bcos its only the first 2 weeks. Remember our first 2 weeks? If you were in M3, you probably blocked it out to never remember the 15 day terror confinement we had. But for those who werent, you probably remember it wasnt that bad... Wait till someone loses his rifle! Then they will be staring at the basketball court floor the whole afternoon. Seriously Lt JJ and Choo NICE?! Obviously they havent seen their true colours! Cant wait for the true colours to show!
Btw did anyone see the photo of Lt Choo on one of this week's papers? Its about the speaker's corner being extinct. Haha that picture reminded me of how he told us "I DONT WANT TO RECEIVE ANYMORE CALLS FROM PARENTS! IF YOU THINK THIS IS TOUGH, THINK AGAIN! WAIT TILL FIELD CAMP COMES! WE CAN DO ANYTHING WE WANT AND YOU CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT!" (slight modification. my memory aint that good. but it went something like that. im sure :P) The only difference was that his audience's facial expression was that of revelation. Ours was more of fear. hehe.
Cant wait to hear more from the new batch. Apparently this website is getting popular among them. Hope to see them drop more tags!

I realised this weekend is really happening! Firstly on friday, we got the new mohawk maggots intake!!! YAY!! A new bunch of lucky people to see an M on their small slip of paper, probably knowing what they are in for unlike us since we have been doing so much publicity. I wonder which of our sgts and officers are still around to terrorize them. I mean they say we are their last batch but they still have a few months till their ORD(lucky bastards...) so shouldnt they be around helping out aka terrorizing the recruits. I sure hope the reputation of Mohawk lives on. Muhahaha i feel sadistic... Anyway a few of my friends actually got into Mohawk and it made my day on friday. haha.

Then on saturday if you guys didnt realise, its actually our 4 months NS anniversary!!! WOW this is the part where im suppose to say that this 4 months passed real fast, but no... the longest freaking 4 months of my life, 3 months of it thanks to Mohawk. If it wasnt for our block leave, i think it would have felt like 2 years! Anyway 20 more months to go people! So depressing...

And finally our 2 officer cadets finally got to book out after 3 gruesome weeks! WELCOME BACK ANTHONY AND LEROY! We are so so so proud of you 2! Go get your one bar and go find those evil sgts of ours and tekan them ok? hehe just kidding... hope you guz enjoyed your short book out time. Remember to call us to treat us to a meal since you guys get so much pay but no time to spend it :P Be nice people, share the money!

MP basic

Sorry for the lack of updates for the past few weeks. Its just that the weekends are short and not much time to update the site but because im on attend C till monday this week bcos of super high fever of 39.5 which lasted for more than 24 hours (Most probably lost alot of brain cells...), i got some time to update some sections BUT i left all my material in my bunk so i only remembered a few...

Anyway i have been hearing from many people about their different units. This is what i gathered so far.
SISPEC: Physically xiong but treated very well. Given lots of welfare. (to an extend they get nights off once a week and get to order food in every night)
OCS: field camp within first 2 weeks. No need to elaborate more...
Armor Infantry: Crazy training but commanders are motivating.
Signals: Slack. Lecture all day.
OETI: Shangri La.
Band: Lots of breaks. Only physical thing is climbing the hill to their building. (Aww...)
MP: 5bx mohawk style(means with run) every tuesday and thursday. 5bx breakfast then followed by 4.8km run every monday, wednesday and friday. The rest of the day: Lectures.

If there is one thing we all share in common in our units, it is that our commanders actually treat us quite well. We actually feel like a person learning something. Something we didnt feel in Mohawk. I wonder why... let me guess... maybe bcos... our commanders are evil and treat us like maggots all the time through the 13 weeks! YES you evil people... I am so glad we climbed out of that shit hole... I hope you feel terrible now and your heart is bleeding from that blow. Hehe just kidding. The other common thing we share is that we actually miss our mohawk commanders. Its funny how we didnt like you guz when we were in the company. Such irony. Seriously!
I miss the way Sgt Ariff move his gills and wave his hands and give the sudden 'FOR WHAT!'
I miss Sgt Vicknesh deadly stare and watching him hide in one corner grinning to himself on the phone.
I miss Sgt Mantis' clueless face.
I do not miss Sgt Farhan boring long speeches...
I miss LT JJ's 'nevermind...' (i dunno why... i think im sadist...)
I miss the way LT Choo flares up and his voice goes all squeeky.
I miss the floating presence of our OC sir.
I miss the daily routine of 'I will not call LT Juffri sir a sgt again!'
I miss the happy-go-lucky brothers, namely LT Juffri and Jonathan, smiling and bouncing around.
And the list goes on...

Those were definitely the worst days of my life... but looking back, it was definitely memorable. I guess the respect we are getting now from our unit mates just because we are from Mohawk, and the lack of culture shock of doing 5bx every morning, all these were because of you commanders and we only have you to thank for.

Btw, should i create a sequel to this blog? Something for my life in MP basic course. :P

Posting Day

I didnt sleep well last night... I think this is officially the happiest moment of my life. Even happier than when my A levels ended. Today marks the end of our Mohawk days. For some, today marks the end of Pulau Tekong days. (those who do not have to do the re-IPPT and guard duty) Today is a good day.

Lets look back at the past week. Sorry i didnt do the update last week. To summarise things up, we had our BAC, our 24 km route march, games day and our GP rehearsal, not forgetting the finale, our POP parade!

BAC: A stupid exercise. Seriously Stupid. Just mad screaming and swinging the rifle to hit the air. Its not surprising who took us for this activity due to the nature of this course. For some weird reason, he decided to tekan us before our BAC. Either that or he had zero experience in how warm ups are done in Mohawk company. I don't recall them having us do leopard crawl, baby crawl etc.

Games Day: The good news is that we won the drill competition. The bad news is that our neighbours who are suppose to be incapable of fighting in a war won the games day. Our dear pikachus from leopard, the pes C + Warrant Officer company actually won it for the duno how many times straight. SIANZZZ

24 km route march: Bcos i was on status, i missed the graduation march. From what i heard, the pace was freaking fast. Not to mention the distance covered was like 4km more than 24 km, so it was somewhere around 28km because our dear teenage mutant NINJA turtles decided to turn the wrong way and lead us to a longer route.

GP Rehearsal: Now i know what sgt mantis was talking about when he was complaining abt the SSM. OMG! I cant believe anyone can be as picky as him. Its amazing why we must rehearse the same thing over and over and over and over again in the freaking hot sun when the procedure is so mega easy...

POP Parade: All went well i think. At least we got to throw our caps without the SSM shouting 'GET BACK TO YOUR POSITION! DO THE INFANTRY ROCK ONE MORE TIME!' The only bad thing is that we had to wait for a really long time before we could head to the ferry terminal and we had to queue for a long time to get onto the ferry. I heard it was chaos at the bus terminal in the afternoon due to the massive crowd. It was like hello kitty craze part 2.

Anyway we are finally PTE. This website has apparently spread to the entire company office and to the entire company. All 200 recruits plus our commanders. Hope you guys enjoy what you are reading. If you remember any funny incidents, do email me at belexus_vossen@hotmail.com. I may just post it up. As Sgt Ariff has said, this website will slowly become our platoon blog where we can keep our profiles and stay in contact and read more about one another's lives in our different units.

In the mean time, there will be more updates and changes. Stay tune. Have fun during your block leave. First we had the amazing strength training where we had to the stupid weight drills and run around the parade ground with sbo and helmet... then after that we had our SOC 350 meter run down... OMG it was damn mega tiring... i never knew soc is that tiring... i almost died doing half of it... i cant imagine doing the whole thing now... anyway i cant clear the swing trainer :P and to end it off, we had our ei survey and our peer appraisal which took so long that we were given very little admin time again...

Tuesday: We did arms drill and our live grenade throw. Grenade was really fun. Our officers suddenly became really really nice. Probably because they dun want us to drop the grenade in front of them, killing 2 people... and JJ decided to appear too. Apparently he suddenly dun feel threatened... he probably realised if we wanted to kill him, we would have done it during live range.

Wednesday: 16km route march day... Firstly the pace was FREAKING FAST throughout the whole route march, not to mention the sudden increase in speed in the last 4km... goodness... it was seriously as fast as our fast march during sit test already... just slightly slower... slightly... and they made us climb up the stupid antenna hill to breathe in 2 breath of air and see the scenary for like 2 minutes before making us climb down again... and when we finally got back, we were actually given extra PT bcos we didnt sing loud enough... whats new...

Thursday: whats funny is that they planned a 60 120 and a BCCT the day after our route march when our feets are filled with blisters. So it wasnt surprising to see people limping from place to place around the company line. But luckily we had lots of admin time during the afternoon to prepare for oc night. this only applies to the cheering team though :P bcos the rest of the people involved in the games day were training while the rest of us were slacking in our bunks. hehe. Anyway OC night was pretty fun. Some performance was really funny and we saw our crazy commanders jump onto their chairs and swinging their arms when sgt handsome(kim) sang 'stand by me'. Juffri and Johnathan did some cool dance moves. JJ Ariff and Vick took off their shirt to parade their muscles. haha as for M3, we sang 2 songs, 'when you say nothing at all' and 'graduation'.

Graduation(aka POP)
And so we talked all night about our ns lives
How we're gonna turn from gays to guys
Keep thinking life will never change
keep on thinking things will always be the same
And when we leave this place, we don't want to come back
want to find a unit thats alot more slack
And if you got something that you need to say
You better say it right now coz you don't have another day
cos we're doubling on and we cant slow down
everytime we walk we gotta half left down
keep thinking of our book out time
lose my rifle and im suddenly confined
And this is how it feels

As we go on, we remember
all the times we had together
And as our lives change
Come whatever
We will still be
Mohawk Maggots

And so we dread it when JJ's our CDO
doing pt all day till our morale's low
try to avoid sgt vicknesh stare
not to fall sick or not zheng xi will flare
and when field camp came sgt Juffri was king
OH NO! We did it again!
Keep thinking we are all lau jiao
but they tell us we are all LAN JIAO!
and this is how it feels

As we go on, we remember
all the times we had together
and as our lives change
come what ever
we will still be
Friends Forever

Friday: IPPT! After ippt, we had to fight the z monster for like 3 hours. We had to listen to the boring CO's national education talk... omg... in there i actually thought that doing agr was less torturous then sitting on the comfy seat and trying to stay awake. After dinner, we had another lecture. This time it was a security talk which sounded more like a primary school talk. "Remember to wear your id tag proudly"... any stupider and i would be hearing " remember not to talk to strangers and watch out for cars when you cross the road. always look left, then right then left before crossing ok?" then they taught us how to spot mails that are suspicious, like a letter that is half filled with stamps! SERIOUSLY which idiot terrorist will paste so many stamps! Its as good as putting on the envelope "PS this envelope contains anthrax!" Oh well at least we got to book out! Whee!

What a week! Results this wed. POP next tues. cant wait for POP! Anyway all the best to everyone for their A level results!

2 more weeks!

This week has been one hell of a week. With all the amazingly packed schedules, its amazing we are still breathing. But this week was a major week because we did our grenade assault course and our live firing.

I hate the stupid grenade. Firstly i cant throw the grenade right. but at least i don't throw like my dear buddy soon aik who threw it and hit sgt vick who was standing beside him... then the stupid OC made me move from M3 lane to M2 lane which was a swimming pool compared to our puddle... so i got super super wet... damn that oc... and i almost had to back crawl through that crap because of sgt peter... anyway that all ended and we got back thinking why we are even happy to be in civilization when civilization has once again come close to our field camp experience.

Then came our 2 gruesome days of live firing. The fact that we were not allowed to sleep was just torturous because our stupid neighbour Orion company were right beside us and they were all sleeping like pigs. Bah who am i to complain anyway... we all know the reason why we are different.. but the highlight of the day was at the end during the inspection. David from M2 was found with 2 RAI and Ben tham from M3 was found with a LIVE round... so both of them are real screwed... especially ben tham... i really hope he gets off light...

The week ended off with a crazy day of SOC, BCCT and strength training in the freaking hot sun. And for the first time we heard the 'heat alert' siren. At first we thought it meant 'EVACUATE' like Cat 1... but no... it was more of a 'drink water' alarm... we were told to drink water and continue.. then as usual we rushed to book out.

Anyway bcos today was so depressing, me shaun and isaac came up with a song!

They say that in the army
that life is very good
you ask to be in leopard
they throw you to mohawk
i dont want to live a mohawk life
I just want to be an OOT
PC please let me go
Zheng Xi say no no no
MO i want to go home.. ya!

testing
